Bonsai

An interesting bonsai prospect with new leaders already developing. The dead upper trunk could be explored as a carved deadwood feature; an individual design rather than a traditional form.

  1. Root check and bonsai plans

    Checked the rootball. Many of the roots trailing down its sides belonged to hitchhiking plants, so the tree’s own root congestion was less severe than it initially appeared. New leaders will need time to develop; considering the dead upper trunk as a future carved deadwood feature. Tidied and returned to the same pot for overwintering. Not yet pot-bound; no repot was carried out.
