An impromptu stock clearance
Older-stock finds, a pot stowaway and an unexpectedly hot greenhouse.

An impromptu visit to the local family-run garden centre ended with a collection of their older stock coming home. A habit is starting to form—they’re getting to know me now.
Some need a tidy-up, others need time and a closer look. I enjoy caring for plants like these, and they’re glad to have the space back. Happy days!
Work started on the cherry’s pot, which had acquired a collection of other plants. I’m considering keeping some of the wildflowers rather than removing everything.
One unidentified little plant has already been lifted and potted separately. I couldn’t save the whole rootball, but it retained part of its taproot and a decent amount of fine feeder roots near the stem. We’ll see how it settles.
From the structure and roots, it appears to be a tree or shrub—but maybe I pulled a weed? Time will tell.
Unfortunately, when we got home, we discovered the greenhouse hadn’t been opened. It’s October, and it was 23°C. How?!
Some of the denizens were looking rather crispy, but still alive. The dead leaves have been removed, they’ve been tidied up and put back. Their individual photos are still to follow. Hopefully they’ll recover well. This weather is mad.
Kirsty also did a little hunting and came home with a blue candle cactus, now ForkHandles, and Hank Scorpio the Christmas cactus, at about a quarter of big-chain prices. ForkHandles needs a little repair work, which she has already started.
She also grew this begonia from a tuber and made the rope hanger for its hanging pot.
