Rosa (miniature hybrid)
Compact miniature rose with small glossy leaves and full, double yellow flowers. Originally a garden-centre indoor pot rose given as a gift; rescued from indoors and planted out, where it is thriving.
A compact flowering pot or border-edge rose. A small trained specimen is an experimental possibility.
In the Second World War, British schoolchildren gathered wild rose hips to be made into vitamin C syrup.
Flowering and budding well. Some leaves have fine pale speckling (check undersides for leafhoppers or spider mites). Fallen dead leaves and one spent flower stem to tidy up.
The whole story hangs on one enchanted rose.
