Washingtonia palm

Washingtonia robusta (likely)

A small fan palm labelled Washingtonia, with one green fan leaf, thread-like fibres and old cut stems. The threads and red-brown leaf bases point to W. robusta, the Mexican fan palm. Bought as a rescue.

Care & updates

  1. Observation

A bronze-leaved wood sorrel (Oxalis corniculata) is flowering at the foot of the trunk. Pretty, and a keen self-seeder, so it stays under observation.

  2. Observation

    Leaf close-ups: likely Washingtonia robusta.

  3. Arrived

Came home from the nursery with Kirsty and her mum. Put somewhere sheltered and checked it wasn't bone dry. Roots not looked at yet.

  4. Moved indoors

    Brought indoors for the night.
