Crassula ovata
Four rooted jade cuttings, to use as bonsai practice. Jade takes hard pruning well, and anything cut off can be rooted into a new plant.
Let them grow freely for a season or two to thicken the trunks before styling. Prune rather than wire, since the branches are brittle.
Bonsai: jade can develop a compact, branching tree-like form with a thick trunk.
Collected today, four cuttings in their own pots. Cutting 1 has a tiny new plantlet at its base; Cutting 4 is leaning with aerial roots at a node, so could do with firming in or a small support.
Jade is its most famous secret character.
