Ribes rubrum 'Versailles'
A whitecurrant planted by the pond (not a pond plant). Sweet, translucent pale berries in summer; the label also marks it as an RHS Plant for Pollinators. Planted this spring.
Pruning: whitecurrants fruit on older wood, so treat them like redcurrants. In winter, keep an open goblet shape of 8 to 10 main stems, and shorten this year's side shoots to one or two buds. Net the fruit in early summer or the birds will beat you to it.
A fruiting bush for an edible garden or generous container, with propagation offering scope for further plants.
Whitecurrants aren't a separate fruit: they're a pale form of the redcurrant.
Leaves turning yellow and dropping for autumn, which is normal. Several upright stems from a short woody base, planted in the gravel beside the pond.
Dizzy spends the whole game hunting down fruit. Berries very much included.
