Columba palumbus
One of a bonded pair who started visiting when the first pond went in and have been regulars ever since: often about the garden for days at a time, and usually together. In the warmer months they are not very privately minded.
Photographed on the fence in front of the brambles, in no hurry. Could presumably be outwitted by a bag of hammers, or possibly by Tinks.
Pigeons can drink with their heads down, sucking water up like a straw. Most birds have to tip their heads back.
Added to the catalogue. Photo from summer 2026.
