Allium cepa (onions 'Shakespeare' and 'Akado'), shallots 'Griselle' and 'Longor', and Allium sativum (garlic 'Cledor' and 'Germidour')
An autumn-planting collection: 250g each of two onions ('Shakespeare', a brown, and 'Akado', a red), 250g each of two shallots ('Griselle', a grey, and 'Longor', a long French type) and four bulbs of garlic (two each of 'Cledor' and 'Germidour', both softnecks).
Into the new veg bed went about ten of each onion, about five of each shallot and one bulb of each garlic, split into cloves, all in rows with the tips just showing. The rest is being kept for containers and the allotment, since there isn't a second bed ready yet.
A summer's worth of onions, shallots and garlic, with more to follow from containers and the allotment.
Ramesses IV was buried with onions in his eye sockets. Nobody is entirely sure why.
About ten of each onion, about five of each shallot and one bulb of each garlic (split into cloves) planted in rows in the new veg bed. Watered in and netted. The rest kept back for containers and the allotment.
Varieties confirmed from the invoice.
Plant in rows, water, wait. The whole game, and also the whole plan.
