Lady fern 'Lady in Red'

Athyrium filix-femina 'Lady in Red'

A lady fern with lacy, bright green fronds on striking wine-red stems, which is where 'Lady in Red' gets its name. It's happiest in the shady part of the bed, with moist soil.

Leave the old fronds on over winter to protect the crown, then cut them away in spring as the new ones unfurl.

Part of the sheltered bed by the pond.
